Income Tiers

Two simple tiers. Generous coverage either way.

Efficiency Arizona scales the rebate to your household’s income relative to the local Area Median Income (AMI), so the households who need help most receive the most help.

Tier 1 · Under 80% AMI

100% of appliance cost covered

100%

If your household income is below 80% of the local Area Median Income, the Efficiency Arizona program covers 100% of the eligible appliance cost — up to the program rebate caps. Allen Home Comfort handles the paperwork from approval through redemption.

Tier 2 · 80–150% AMI

50% of appliance cost covered

50%

For households between 80% and 150% of Area Median Income, Efficiency Arizona covers 50% of the eligible appliance cost — up to the same per-product rebate caps. Many Arizona families fall into this band and don’t realize they qualify.

How tiers are verified: Tier eligibility is determined during the official Efficiency Arizona application review. Allen Home Comfort can pre-screen your household at no cost and walk you through documentation before you submit — we’ve done it many times.
How it works

From application to installed savings — in five clean steps.

Most Arizona homeowners abandon their rebate halfway through paperwork. Working with an authorized provider keeps the process tight, traceable, and finished.

Once approved, you complete a quick Retail Interest Form so the program can issue the right rebate coupon.

Coupon Issued

You receive your rebate coupon by email. Coupons must be presented at the time of purchase — rebates do not apply retroactively.

Redeem & Install

Allen Home Comfort delivers the qualifying ENERGY STAR appliance, removes the old unit, caps any gas line, and finishes installation.

Why an authorized provider matters

The rebate is real. The process is where most people lose money.

Authorized provider status isn’t a marketing badge — it’s a state-level designation that lets us legally facilitate the program on your behalf. Customers shouldn’t try to navigate the rules alone.

Coupon must be at purchase

Apply online, get approved, and receive a coupon — before you buy. Efficiency Arizona does not pay rebates retroactively. If you buy first, the rebate is gone.

Equipment must qualify

Only specific ENERGY STAR-certified models qualify, and the appliance you’re replacing must meet the program’s rules. Pick the wrong model and the rebate is forfeited.

Removal & install is on you

The program holds the homeowner responsible for safely removing the old unit, capping any gas line, and installing the new appliance. Authorized providers exist to take that off your plate.

Stackable savings modelingWe layer Efficiency Arizona with APS/SRP rebates and the 30% federal credit before you sign anything.

Stack Efficiency Arizona with utility rebates & federal credits.

The single biggest mistake Arizona homeowners make is treating these programs as either/or. Many households can layer the Efficiency Arizona rebate on top of APS or SRP utility incentives and the 30% federal energy tax credit on the same project. We model the full stack before any equipment is ordered — so you see the true net cost in writing.

Frequently asked

Straight answers about the Efficiency Arizona program.

Sourced directly from the official Efficiency Arizona retail program guidelines and our hands-on experience facilitating applications across the state.

What exactly is Efficiency Arizona?

Efficiency Arizona is the state’s electrification rebate program. It gives eligible and approved Arizona households the opportunity to receive a rebate to purchase eligible appliances directly through a Participating Retailer or authorized provider. The Retail pathway specifically covers heat pump water heaters, heat pump dryers, and electric cooking appliances.

Why is being “1 of 2” authorized providers in Arizona a big deal?

The Efficiency Arizona program qualifies a very limited list of providers and retailers in the state to offer and facilitate the rebate at the point of sale. Allen Home Comfort is one of those authorized providers. That means we can apply your coupon at purchase, deliver eligible equipment, and coordinate installation without you having to navigate the program alone.

How much can my household actually receive?

Up to $1,750 on a qualifying heat pump water heater that replaces an electric-resistance unit. Up to $840 combined across heat pump dryers and electric cooking appliances. Tier 1 households (under 80% AMI) receive 100% of the appliance cost up to the rebate caps; Tier 2 households (80–150% AMI) receive 50% up to the same caps.

What does it take to qualify?

You must be a household whose income falls within Tier 1 or Tier 2 of the program, the new appliance must be ENERGY STAR certified, and you must complete the official online application before purchase. The program is explicit that rebates cannot apply retroactively — the coupon must be presented at the time of purchase.

Do I have to remove and replace my old appliance myself?

The program holds the homeowner responsible for appliance removal, gas line capping, and installation. That’s precisely why working with an authorized provider matters — Allen Home Comfort handles all of it end-to-end as part of the project.

Can I combine Efficiency Arizona with other rebates?

Often, yes. Many Arizona households layer Efficiency Arizona with APS or SRP utility rebates and federal energy tax credits worth up to 30% of qualifying equipment. We model the combined incentives during your free assessment.

How fast does the process actually move?

Most applications are reviewed within a few business days. The slowest part is usually waiting on equipment availability — which we sidestep because we already stock ENERGY STAR-certified models that match the program’s requirements.

Where can I verify the program details myself?

The official program lives at efficiencyarizona.com/retail. We always encourage homeowners to read the program in full — and then call us at (480) 382-1616 so we can pre-qualify you and handle the paperwork from there.
